Dances
We offer dance lessons to people of all ages. We have many different dances from different regions of Colombia to choose from. The following are some of the many dances we offer. Most dances are group dances and partner dances.
CUMBIA
ā
The cumbia is one of the most representative cultural expressions of Colombia. Cumbia originated in the Caribbean region of Colombia. The style of dance is designed to recall the shackles worn around the ankles of the African slaves.
BULLERENGUE
The bullerengue is a musical and dance genre of the Caribbean Coast of Colombia, executed mainly by the descendants of the people who lived in San Basilio de Palenque. Bullerengue is a musical style and dance from the Caribbean Region of Colombia. It is a cumbia-based style traditionally sung and danced by woman.
VUELTAS ANTIOQUEÑAS
Originated in the region of Colombia called Antioquia. This dance has couples dancing rapid movements and many twists and turns, especially by the women.
MAPALÉ
Danced to a fast rhythm of cumbia music (original from Colombia) also originally of the African slaves brought to Colombia. The movements are based on the Mapalé Fish movements when it was out of the water.
CURRULAO
The Currulao is one of the most African influenced dances in all of Colombia and has its roots among the Afro-Colombian people from the Pacific coast region of Colombia.
EL SANJUANERO
The Sanjuanero Tolimense, often simply called Sanjuanero, is a traditional Colombian song called "Bambuco". It is the melody, Sacred Reign of Bambuco. The Sanjuanero consists of three basic steps (caminado, bambuqueado, and contradanza), eight basic figures and five or more adornment figures.

Group Lessons
Adult Dance Group
Our Adult Dance Group is ages 18 and up.

Our Girl's Dance Group ranges from ages 13 to 17.
āāYoung Children's Dance Group (Algarabía Kids)
Our Young Children's Dance Group is ages 5 to 12.
